Dr. Fahad al Aql has been working as a Consultant Neonatologist at Riyadh National Hospital since 2013. He has
been an advisor to the Ministry of Health and served as the Director of the Neonatal Improvement Program in
MOH from 2009 to December 2020. Dr. Fahad has played a significant role in developing and standardizing
processes, workforce, equipment, consumables, and medications in Neonatal Services. These standards are
currently being implemented in more than 200 MOH hospitals. He has also contributed to the Saudi Central Board
for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI) by updating the accreditation standards for health facilities
in the field of Neonatology. Dr. Fahad was involved in updating the design of NICUs, which was subsequently
adopted by the Ministry of Health.
Dr. Fahad holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Faculty of Medicine at King Saud University in
Riyadh. He has obtained his Arab Board in General Pediatrics from Saudi Arabia, a Diploma in Child Health
from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and FRCP from
the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Additionally, he has Canadian Fellowships in
